Steve and Cindy Scherrer have started a new chapter in the many years of paddling together. Kayaking, canoeing, rowing a cataraft or racing an outrigger, 30 plus years, means lots and lots of trips in a cornucopia of different craft. They and their partner Keith owned and operated Alder Creek Kayak & Canoe in Portland Oregon until 2004.
Running this full-meal-deal shop taught them how to best get folks hooked on paddling. Proper gear and teaching good technique was one key to their success. The American Canoe Association played an important role as the certifying body for their paddlesports. Steve is an ACA Instructor Trainer Educator in both sea kayaking and SUP. Cindy is an ACA SUP Instructor Trainer and a Coastal Kayak Instructor.
Steve spent the last 10 years working for Confluence Watersports. As a designer and training specialist they both had the opportunity to teach at many events and symposiums across the country.
Now they’ve literally gotten off their bums for SUP. Gliding across water and enjoying better views, has proven to be quite addictive.
They will be traveling and teaching SUP through their new company:
