Opportunities to get on the water have been hard to come by this last year. Between the twin three-year-olds and business, 2014 left me little time in the field. So, I protested and took to a new secret spot. We haven’t had a hard freeze in Idaho so the birds are reluctant to decoy. Instead, I brought my Jackson Kilroy to them. With the new Realtree cover, I was able to get in close. As it turned out, there were a bunch of pheasants around too. Mootie, my 7-month Boykin, and I shot a limit of both. Not bad for a couple hours. Luckily I had the Orion 65 along. We hit the road for a ski weekend and now are couch surfing.
